The following new section is hereby inserted immediately after section 2 of the Convention on the

Suppression of Terrorist Financing Act, No. 25 of 2005

(hereinafter referred to as the “principal enactment”) and shall have effect as section 2A of that enactment:-

2A. (1) The provisions of this Act shall apply in relation to a person who being a citizen of

Sri Lanka or a person who not being a citizen of Sri Lanka, commits an offence under this

Act,

(a)

while present in Sri Lanka; or

(b)

outside Sri Lanka and such offence is an offence under the law for the time being in force, in the country in which such offence is committed.

(2)

For the purpose of the implementation of the provisions of this Act, the expression

“person” shall include a body of persons, whether corporate or unincorporated within or outside Sri Lanka.”.
