28. Rules

(1)

The Board may make rules in respect of all or any matter for which rules are authorized or required by this Act to be made.

(2)

Without prejudice to the generality of the powers vested in the Board under subsection (1), the Board may make rules for the following matters in particular–

National Eye Bank Trust of

(a)

to determine the qualifications, powers and functions of the Tissue Coordinators;

(b)

to determine the procedures relating to the distribution of corneal tissues and other tissues required for ophthalmic surgery to Sri Lankans;

(c)

to determine the procedure for the recruitment and training of Tissue Coordinators; and

(d)

to maintain registers which shall be kept and maintained under this Act.

(3)

Every rule made under this section shall come into force upon publication in the Gazette.

(4)

Every rule made under this section shall within a period of three months from the date of its publication in the

Gazette be brought before Parliament for approval.

(5)

Any rule made under this section may be amended or rescinded when necessary.
