s 1Short title

This Act may be cited as the Offences Against Public

Property (Amendment) Act, No. 28 of 1999.

s 2Amendment of section 8 of Act No. 12 of 1982

Section 8 of the Offences Against Public Property Act,

No. 12 of 1982 is hereby amended in the proviso to subsection (1) if that section, by the substitution, for the words “exceeds five thousand rupees” of the words “exceeds twenty five thousand rupees”.

s 3Sinhala text to prevail in case of inconsistency

In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala and Tamil texts of this Act,the Sinhala text shall prevail.
