48. Interpreta-tion,

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires—

“affiliated college” means any educational institution in Sri Lanka or abroad or any educational institution managed by a Pirivena recognized and regis-tered as an affiliated college under this Act;

“educational institution ” means any institution conduct-ing courses for examination of the University ;

“Higher Educational Institution” has the same meaning as in the Universities Act, No. 16 of 1978 ;

“regulation” means any regulation made by the Council under this Act.
