3. Amendment of section 5 of the principal enactment

Section 5 of the principal enactment is hereby amended as follows :—
(1)
in subsection (1) of that section by the substitution, for the words “citizen of Ceylon by descent if at the time of his birth his father is a citizen of Ceylon” of the words “citizen of Sri Lanka if at the time of his birth either of his parents is or was a citizen of Sri
Lanka.”; and
(2)
in subsection (2) of that section by the substitution , for the words “citizen of Ceylon by descent if at the time of his birth his father is a citizen of Ceylon” of the words “citizen of Sri Lanka if at the time of his birth either of his parents is or was a citizen of Sri
