How srilaws sources and checks the law

srilaws is a structural layer over official Sri Lankan legal sources. The law itself is the source text, reorganised for reading and never rewritten. Here is where it comes from, how it is processed and checked, and how current it is.

01 ·Sourcing

Acts come from the Department of Government Printing of Sri Lanka, their official publisher, in their official English translation; the Constitution comes from the consolidated text the Parliament of Sri Lanka publishes. Every page links back to its source, and says when its English text is a translation or an unofficial copy.

02 ·Structuring

The official text is parsed into its natural hierarchy, from parts to sections, subsections and paragraphs, so each unit has a stable address of its own. References to other laws are resolved and rendered as links where we hold them. The text inside that structure is untouched.

03 ·Verifying

Parsed laws are checked against the source for structural fidelity. A law’s status (in force, amended, repealed) and its amendment history are shown only from recorded relationships between laws, never inferred. None are recorded here yet, so no page gives a status.

04 ·Freshness

Each law shows when its text was last updated. Re-parses and corrections move that date, so you, search engines and AI assistants can tell how current a page is.
