Terms

Terms of use

These terms cover your use of srilaws. They are short on purpose: the site is free, it is open to read without an account, and most of what follows is about one thing: this is a research tool, not a source of authority and not advice.

Draft for reviewThe wording of this page is not final.

01 ·Who these terms bind

They are an agreement between you and the operator of srilaws (“we”, “us”). By using the site you accept them. If you do not, do not use the site.

If you use srilaws for an employer or a client, you accept these terms for them as well as for yourself.

02 ·What the service is

srilaws reproduces Sri Lankan legal material published by official sources and adds a layer over it: structure, section addresses, search, and machine access over MCP. See about and methodology.

It is provided free of charge, as it is, with no commitment that it will stay available. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it at any time.

03 ·Not legal advice

Nothing on srilaws is legal advice, and using it creates no lawyer-client relationship. That includes the laws themselves and any answer from an assistant connected over MCP. An AI answer can be wrong, incomplete, or right about a version of the law that has since changed.

For a matter that affects you, speak to a lawyer qualified in Sri Lanka.

04 ·Accuracy and currency

We take care over the text, but we do not warrant that anything here is accurate, complete, in force or current. Parsing can misplace a section; a source can be stale; a consolidation can lag an amendment.

srilaws is not an official publisher and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any court, government body or official publisher. The official source is authoritative and is linked from every page. Check it before relying on anything here.

05 ·Acceptable use

Read, search, quote and link freely: that is what the site is for. What you may not do:

Load the site hard enough to degrade it for anyone else, or work around rate limits or access controls. Automated bulk copying needs our agreement first; use the MCP address where it fits.

Present srilaws as an official source, or our pages as published or approved by a court, a government body or an official publisher.

Use the site to break the law, to infringe someone’s rights, or to attack it or the people who use it.

We may limit or block access that breaches this section.

06 ·The text and this site

The legal text is not ours. Legislation, judgments and other official material reproduced here belong to their publishers and are subject to the terms and Government rights those publishers assert. We claim nothing over it.

The layer around it is. The structure, the design, the code and the site name are ours or our licensors’. Quote, cite and link to them freely. Republishing them wholesale as your own product needs our permission.

07 ·Third parties

Pages link to official publishers and other outside sites. We do not control them and are not responsible for what they contain.

08 ·Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss, cost or damage arising from your use of srilaws or your reliance on anything in it, including a decision taken on text that turned out to be inaccurate, out of date or not in force.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

09 ·Changes and ending

We may update these terms, and continuing to use the site after a change is acceptance of the version then published. You can stop using srilaws at any time.

10 ·Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Sri Lanka, and disputes arising out of them may be brought before its courts. If a term is unenforceable, the rest stands. Nothing here affects a right you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in.
