82. Constitution of the Inter-Ministerial Committee

(1)

The Inter-Ministerial Committee to be constituted for the purpose of this Act shall, subject to the provisions of subsection (2), consist of the following members:—

(a)

the Secretary to the Ministry of the Minister, who shall be the Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial

Committee;

(b)

the Secretary to the Ministry of the Minister in charge of the subject of Finance or his designated nominee;

(c)

the Secretary to the Ministry of the Minister in charge of the subject of Industrial Development or his designated nominee;

(d)

the Secretary to the Ministry of the Minister in charge of the subject of Internal Trade or his designated nominee;

(e)

the Secretary to the Ministry of the Minister in charge of the subject of Agriculture or his designated nominee;

(f)

the Secretary to the Ministry of the Minister in charge of the subject of Foreign Affairs or his designated nominee;

(g)

Director General of Customs or his designated nominee; and

(h)

a nominee of the Governor of the Central Bank of

Sri Lanka.

Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (1), where, considering the nature of the proposal being submitted for his consideration under this Act, the Chairman may, in consultation with the members referred to in paragraphs (b) and (c) of subsection (1), where he considers it appropriate, co-opt not more than two other members to the Inter-Ministerial Committee.

The Chairman shall, if present, preside at all meetings of the Inter-Ministerial Committee, and in the absence of the Chairman from any such meeting, the members present shall nominate one of the members present to preside at such meeting.

(4)

The quorum for any meeting of the Inter-Ministerial

Committee shall be four members and the procedure in regard to the conduct of meetings and the transaction of its business, shall be regulated by the Inter-Ministerial

Committee.
