Code of Intellectual Property (Amendment) Act 2000

s 1Short title

This Act may be cited as the Code of Intellectual

Property (Amendment) Act, No. 40 or 2000.

s 2Amendment of section 6 of Act No. 52 of 1979

Section 6 of the Code of Intellectual Property Act,

No. 52 of 1979 (hereinafter referred to as the "principal enactment") is hereby amended by the insertion immediately after the definition of "broadcasting" of the following new definitions :-

' "Computer" means an electronic or other device having the capability of storing and processing information ;

"Computer programme" means a set of instructions expressed in words, codes, schemes or in any other form, which is capable, when incorporated in a medium that a computer can read, of causing the computer to perform or achieve a particular task or resut. •.

s 3Amendment of section 7 of the principal enactment

Section 7 of the principal enactment is hereby amended in subsection (2) of that section by the repeal of paragraph (j)

of th'at subsection and the substitution of the following paragraphs therefor :-

"(j) illustrations, maps, plans, sketches and three dimensional works relative to geography, topography, architecture or science ;

(k)

computer programmes".
