1. Short title and date of operation

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

This Act may be cited as the Convention on Preventing and Combating Trafficking in Women and Children for

Prostitution Act, No. 30 of 2005 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister by Order published in the Gazette certifies as the date on which the Convention on Preventing and Combating Trafficking in Women and Children for

Prostitution signed at Kathmandu on January 05, 2002

(hereinafter referred to as the “Convention”), enters into force in respect of Sri Lanka.
