This Act may be cited as the Excise (Amendment)

Act, No. 20 of 2011.

The provisions of this Act shall for all purposes be deemed to have come into operation on November 19, 2010.

s 2Amendment of section 15 of the Excise Ordinance

Section 15 of the Excise Ordinance (Chapter 52) is hereby amended by the repeal of paragraphs (b) and (c) of that section, and the substitution therefor of the following :—

“(b)

no tree producing toddy, other than the kithul tree and the palmyrah tree, shall be tapped ; and

(c)

no toddy shall be drawn from any tree, other than the kithul tree and the palmayrah tree.”.

s 3Sinhala text to prevail in case of inconsistency

In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala and Tamil texts of this Act, the Sinhala text shall prevail.

Annual subscription of English Bills and Acts of the Parliament Rs. 885 (Local), Rs. 1,180

(Foreign), Payable to the SUPERINTENDENT, GOVERNMENT PUBLICATIONS BUREAU, DEPARTMENT OF

GOVERNMENT INFORMATION, NO. 163, KIRULAPONA MAWATHA, POLHENGODA, COLOMBO 05 before 15th

December each year in respect of the year following.

s 1Short title and date of operation

This Act may be cited as the Excise (Amendment)

Act, No. 20 of 2011.

s 2Amendment of section 15 of the Excise Ordinance

Section 15 of the Excise Ordinance (Chapter 52) is hereby amended by the repeal of paragraphs (b) and (c) of that section, and the substitution therefor of the following :—
