Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

Every licence shall licence.

(a)

be in the prescribed form

; and

(b)

unless it is cancelled earlier, be in force for a period of twelve months from the date of its issue.
