Part XI

168. Exercise of discretionary power by Director–General

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

Where any discretionary or other power is given to the Director-General by this Act or any regulation made thereunder, he shall not exercise that power adversely in respect of the applicant for registration or the registered owner of an Industrial Design, Patent or Mark or any other matter provided under this Act without (if duly required so to do within the prescribed time) giving such applicant or registered owner an opportunity of being heard.
