5. Cognizable and non-bailable offence

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

Every offence under this Act shall be a cognizable offence and a non-bailable offence, within the meaning, and for the purposes of the Code of Criminal Procedure Act,
