2. Amendment of section 9 of Act…

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

Section 9 of the Judicature Act, No. 2 of 1978 is hereby amended, by the repeal of paragraph (d) of subsection (1) of that section, and substitution therefor, of the following paragraph:-

“(d) any offence committed by any person on the high seas where-

(i)

such offence is piracy by the law of nations; or

(ii)

such offence is an offence under the Poisons,

Opium and Dangerous Drugs Ordinance

(Chapter 218), Conventions Against Illicit

Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic

Substances Act, No. 1 of 2008 or any such written law;”.
