s 1Short title

This Act may be cited as the Local Authorities (Special

Provisions) (Amendment) Act, No. 30 of 2009.

s 2Amendment of section 3 of the Local Authorities (Special Provisions) Act, No. 55 of 2007

Section 3 of the Local Authorities (Special

Provisions) Act, No. 55 of 2007 is hereby amended as follows:—

(1)

by the renumbering of that section as subsection (1) of that section;

(2)

in the renumbered subsection (1), by the repeal of the proviso thereof; and

(3)

by the addition immediately after the renumbered subsection (1) of that section of the following new subsection:—

“(2) The notice of nomination in terms of the principal enactment shall be published on such date as the Minister may determine by Order published in the Gazette. Such date shall be a date not later than ten months from the date on which this amendment comes into operation.”.

s 3Sinhala text to prevail in case of inconsistency

In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala and Tamil texts of this Act, the Sinhala text shall prevail.
