7. Constitution of the Board of Management of the Academy

(1)

The management and the administration of the affairs of the Academy shall be vested in a Board of management (in this Act referred to as “the Board”) which shall consist of—

(a)

the following ex-officio members, namely—

(i)

the Secretary to the Ministry of the Minister assigned the administration of the Police

Department who shall be the Chairman;

(ii)

a senior official of the rank of Deputy

Secretary to the Treasury nominated by the

Secretary to the Ministry of the Minister to whom the subject of Finance is assigned;

(iii)

an Additional Secretary to the Ministry of the Minister assigned the administration of the Police Department, nominated by the

Secretary;

(iv)

the Inspector-General of Police; and

(v)

the Executive Director of the Academy appointed under section 13;

(b)

two members appointed by the Minister in consultation with the Secretary; having proven ability in the fields of national security, public security, law, and public administration.

(2)

The Chairman shall preside at all meetings of the Board and in the absence of the Chairman from any such meeting of the Board, a person from among members of the Board referred to in subparagraph (ii) of paragraph (a) of subsection (1) and subparagraph (iii) of paragraph (a) of subsection (1)

and paragraph (b) of subsection (1), who has been duly nominated by the Chairman, shall preside at any such meeting.

(3)

The Principal Administrative Officer of the Academy shall function as Secretary to the Board.
