Part I · Establishment of the Office on Missing Persons

3. Establishment of the Office on Missing Persons (OMP)

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

(1)

There shall be established an Office which shall be called and known as the “Office on Missing Persons”

(hereinafter referred to as the “OMP”)

(2)

The OMP shall be a body corporate having perpetual succession and a common seal and may sue and be sued in its corporate name.

(3)

The head office of the OMP shall be situated in

Colombo. The OMP may, from time to time, establish such number of regional offices as may be necessary, to achieve its mandate.
