27. Accountability to Parliament

(1)

The Parliamentary Budget Officer shall provide information to Parliament on the operation of the

Parliamentary Budget Office as required by Parliament.

(2)

The Parliamentary Budget Officer shall prepare an annual report on the operation and administration of the

Parliamentary Budget Office which shall be submitted to the Committee on Public Finance within four months of the commencement of its financial year.

(3)

The Committee on Public Finance shall -

(a)

review the Parliamentary Budget Office’s annual report;

(b)

assess the reasonableness of the draft estimate of expenditure, based on the action plan prepared by the Parliamentary Budget Officer under section 23;

(c)

consider the operation and sourcing resources of the Parliamentary Budget Office in relation to its objectives; and

(d)

report to Parliament any matter related to the operation of the Parliamentary Budget Office which has an impact on the ability of the Parliamentary

Budget Office to perform its responsibilities under this Act.
