s 1Short title

This Act may be cited as the Presidents’ Entitlements

(Repeal) Act, No. 18 of 2025.

s 2Repeal of the Act, No. 4 of 1986

The Presidents’ Entitlements Act, No. 4 of 1986

(hereinafter referred to as the “repealed Act”) is hereby repealed.

s 3Avoidance of doubt

For the avoidance of doubt, it is hereby declared that-

(a)

any residence provided to, or monthly allowance paid to, a former President or the widow of a former President in terms of the provisions of section 2 of the repealed Act;

(b)

monthly secretarial allowance paid to, and official transport and such other facilities provided to, a former President or the widow of a former President in terms of the provisions of section 3 of the repealed Act; and

(c)

monthly pension paid to the widow of a former

President in terms of the provisions of section 4

of the repealed Act, preceding the date of commencement of this Act, shall no longer be provided with or paid to, on and after the date of commencement of this Act.

s 4Sinhala text to prevail in case of inconsistency

In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala and Tamil texts of this Act, the Sinhala text shall prevail.
