38. Interpretation in relation to the Extradition Law

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

Notwithstanding anything contained in the

Extradition Law, No. 8 of 1977, an offence under Chapter I of Part II of this Act shall, for the purposes only of extradition under that Law, be deemed not to be a fiscal offence, or an offence of a political nature, or an offence connected with a political offence or an offence inspired by political motives.
