5. Minister may authorize an anti-personnel mine for certain purposes

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

(1)

For the purposes of developing, or training persons in, techniques of mine detection, mine clearance, mine deactivation, or mine destruction, the Minister may from time to time, by notice published in the Gazette authorize the retention or transfer of a number of anti-personnel mines.

(2)

The number of anti-personnel mines authorized under subsection (1) shall not exceed the minimum number absolutely necessary for the above-mentioned purposes.
