s 1Short title and date of operation

This Act may be cited as the Recovery of Loans by

Banks (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Act, No. 19 of 2011 and shall be deemed to have come into operation with effect from January 28, 2011.

s 2Amendment of section 5A of the Recovery of Loans by Banks (Special Provisions) Act, No. 4 of 1990

The Recovery of Loans by Banks (Special Provisions)

Act, No. 4 of 1990 is hereby amended in section 5A thereof, by the substitution for the word “amount” wherever such word appears in that section, of the words “principal amount borrowed”.

s 3In case of an inconsistency the Sinhala text to prevail

In the event of an inconsistency between the Sinhala and Tamil texts of this Act, the Sinhala text shall prevail.
