1. Short title and date of operation

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

This Act may be cited as the Registration of Electors

Act, No. 44 of 1880, and shall come into operation on such date as may be appointed by the President by Order pub-lished in the Gazette.
