Part III · General Provisions Applicable to Insurers

34. Persons from whom insurer may accept insurance business

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

No insurer shall accept any insurance business except from —

(a)

any person who has an insurable interest in the subject matter of insurance ;

(b)

another insurer in respect of reinsurance ;

(c)

an insurance agent ; or

(d)

an insurance broker registered under this Act.
