s 1Short title

This Act may be cited as the Rubber Control

(Amendment) Act, No. 16 of 2025.

The Rubber Control Act (Chapter 436) (hereinafter referred to as the “principal enactment”) is hereby amended by the substitution for the words, “Controller” and “Rubber

Controller” wherever such words appear in the principal enactment of the words, “Director-General”.

Every reference to the “Controller” and “Rubber

Controller” in any other written law or in any notice, notification, contract, communication, form, other instrument or document shall from and after the date of commencement of this Act be read and construed as a reference made to the

“Director-General of the Rubber Development Department”.

s 3Repeal of section 26 of the principal enactment

Section 26 of the principal enactment is hereby repealed.

s 4Replacement of heading in Part VI of the principal enactment

The heading appearing immediately after the words and figures “PART VI” of the principal enactment is hereby repealed and the following heading substituted therefor: -

“RUBBER ADVISORY BOARD”.

s 5Repeal of sections 36, 37, 38, 39, 39a and 50 of the principal enactment

Sections 36, 37, 38, 39, 39a and 50 of the principal enactment are hereby repealed.

s 6Amendment of section 52 of the principal enactment

Section 52 of the principal enactment is hereby amended by the repeal of the definition of “Controller”, and the substitution therefor, of the following new definition :-

““Director-General” means the Director-General of the

Rubber Development Department, appointed or deemed to have been appointed under this Act;”.

s 7Sinhala text to prevail in case of inconsistency

In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala and Tamil texts of this Act, the Sinhala text shall prevail.
