33. Staff of the Commission

The Commission may appoint such number of officers and employees, as the Commission may deem necessary for the proper and efficient discharge of its functions.
The Commission may –
exercise disciplinary control over or dismiss any officer or employee of the Commission;
subject to relevant written law and any guidelines issued by the Government from time to time, stipulate the conditions of employment including remuneration and scheme of recruitment of the officers and employees;
establish and regulate a provident fund and any other welfare and security schemes for the benefit of the officers and employees of the Commission subject to any written law and make contributions to any such fund or scheme.
At the request of the Commission, any officer in the public service may, with the consent of that officer and the
Secretary to the Ministry under which that officer is employed and the Secretary to the Ministry of the Minister assigned the subject of Public Administration, be temporarily appointed to the staff of the Commission for such period as may be determined by the Commission, or with like consent, be permanently appointed to such staff.
Where any officer in the public service is temporarily appointed to the staff of the Commission, the provisions of subsection (2) of section 14 of the National
Transport Commission Act, No. 37 of 1991 shall, mutatis mutandis, apply to an in relation to, such officer.
Where any officer in the public service is permanently appointed to the staff of the Commission, the provisions of subsection (3) of section 14 of the National Transport
Commission Act, No. 37 of 1991 shall, mutatis mutandis, apply to an in relation to, such officer.
Where the Commission employs any person who has entered into any contract with the Government by which he has agreed to serve the Government for a specified period, any period of service to the Commission by that person shall be regarded as service to the Government for the purpose of discharging his obligation under such contract.
