16. Amendment of section 53A of the principal enactment

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

Section 53A of the principal enactment is hereby amended—

(a)

in paragraph (a) of subsection (1) of that section, by the substitution for the words “inspection ; or ”, of the words “inspection of the mark or valid identity document ; or”; and

(b)

in paragraph (b) of subsection (1) of that section by the substitution for the words “that such voter has already been marked with the appropriate mark ;

or”, of the words “that either such voter has already been marked with the appropriate mark or facts giving rise to suspicion over the identity of the voter ; or”.
