16. Interpre-tation,

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

In this Act unless the context otherwise requires—-

“local authority employee” means a member of the

Local Government Service or an officer or servant of any local authority, and any officer or servant of a Development Council, established by the

Development Councils Act, No. 35 of 1980.
