34. Amendment of Article 153 of the Constitution

Article 153 of the Constitution is hereby amended as follows:-

(1)

by the repeal of paragraph (1) of that Article and the substitution of the following paragraph therefor:-

“(1) There shall be an Auditor-General who shall be a qualified Auditor, and subject to the approval of the Constitutional Council, be appointed by the

President and shall hold office during good behaviour.”; and

(2)

by the repeal of paragraph (4) of that Article, and the substitution of the following paragraph therefor:-

“(4) Whenever the Auditor-General is unable to discharge functions of his office, the President may, subject to the approval of the Constitutional

Council, appoint a person to act in the place of the

Auditor-General.”
