17. Liability of persons with participating interest in development license

Notwithstanding the terms of a Petroleum Resources

Agreement, all persons with a participating interest in a

Development License shall be responsible—

(a)

for ensuring compliance with the terms of the

Petroleum Resources Agreement ;

(b)

for ensuring that the conditions of a Development

License and regulations made under this Act are complied with; and

(c)

to third parties, for injury and damage resulting from petroleum operations conducted in the area described in the Development License :

Provided, that any person with a participating interest ordered to pay damages for any such injury or damage, may pay such damages on a contributory basis with the other persons who have participating interests in the Development

License.
