18. Making false statement of facts in affidavits

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

Any person who willfully and dishonestly makes any false statement of facts in an affidavit made under this Act commits an offence and shall, on conviction by the

Magistrate’s Court, be liable to a fine not less than two hundred thousand rupees or to imprisonment for a period not less than one year, or to both such fine and imprisonment.
