17. Presumptions

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

Any person who has the possession, control or custody of—

(a)

a counterfeit or unauthorised payment device ;

(b)

any card making or altering equipment without lawful authority ;

(c)

a payment device without authority from its holder or Issuer ;

(d)

any equipment used for acceptance or processing of a payment device without lawful authority, shall be presumed until the contrary is proved to have such payment device or equipment in his possession, custody or control, for the purpose of committing an offence under this

Act.
