34. Enforcement orders

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

(1)

If the Commission is satisfied that a generation, transmission or distribution licensee is contravening or is likely to contravene any condition of a licence or any statutory requirement, it shall make an enforcement order containing such provision as it may deem necessary to secure compliance with such condition or requirement by the licensee.

(2)

An enforcement order—

(a)

shall require the licensee to whom it relates to do or desist from doing such things as are specified in the order;

(b)

shall be in force for such period as maybe specified in the order;

(c)

may be revoked or modified at any time by the

Commission, but in any event shall cease to have effect at the end of the period specified in the order.
