Part II · Custody of Children and Young Persons

27. Interpretation

Official English translation. The Sinhala text prevails.

Unless the context otherwise requires, for the purposes of this Part of this Act—

“child” means a person under eighteen years of age ;

“Medical Practitioner” means a Medical Practitioner registered under the Medical Ordinance (Chapter

105) ; and

“young person” means a person who has attained eighteen years but under twenty-one years of age.
