2. Establishment of the Central Bank

(1)

There shall be established an institution which shall be called and known as the Central Bank of Sri Lanka

(in this Act referred to as the “Central Bank”) to be an authority responsible for the administration, supervision and regulation of the monetary, financial and payment systems of Sri Lanka.

(2)

The Central Bank shall be a body corporate with perpetual succession and a common seal and may sue or be sued in its corporate name.
