54. Prohibition of Misleading Advertisement

A person who publishes, broadcast, or otherwise disseminates any advertisement for gambling activities that –

(a)

contains false, deceptive, or misleading information regarding the nature, risks, or chances of winning associated with gambling;

or

(b)

implies that participation in gambling can resolve financial difficulties or improve social status, commits an offence and shall, on conviction by a Magistrate, be liable to a fine not exceeding one hundred thousand rupees or to imprisonment of either description for a period not exceeding two years or to both such fine and imprisonment.
