Part V · Chapter XIX Marks and Trade Names

120. Alteration of registered mark

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

The registered owner of any mark may apply in the prescribed manner and with prescribed fee to the

Director-General for leave to add to or alter such mark in any manner not substantially affecting the identity of the same, and the Director-General may refuse such leave or may grant the same on such terms and subject to such limitations as to mode or place of use as he may think fit. If leave be granted, the mark as altered shall be published in the prescribed manner.
