42. Amendment of section 63 of the principal enactment

Section 63 of the principal enactment as amended by Act, No. 24 of 1987 is hereby further amended as follows :—
in subsection (1) of that section :—
by the repeal of paragraph (b) of that subsection and the substitution therefor of the following paragraph :—
“(b)
on which votes are marked for more than one recognized political party or independent group;”;
by the repeal of paragraph (d) of that subsection and the substitution therefor of the following paragraph:—
“(d)
which is unmarked or void for uncertainty as to which recognized political party or independent group the vote is marked;”;
by the repeal of subsection (6) of that section and the substitution therefor of the following subsection :—
“(6) The counting officer shall prepare a written statement in words as well as in figures, of the number of votes given to each recognized political party or independent group. The statement so prepared shall be certified by the counting officer and witnessed by one of his clerks and the counting agents who are present and who desires to sign.”; and
by the repeal of subsections (6A), (6B) and (6c) of that section.
