25. General penalty

Any person who contravenes or fails to comply with any provisions of this Act or any regulation or rule made thereunder shall be guilty of an offence under this Act.

Any person guilty of an offence under subsection (1)

for which no penalty is expressly provided for by this Act, shall on conviction after summary trial before a Magistrate be liable to a fine not exceeding in Sri Lankan rupees the equivalent of ten thousand SDR or to imprisonment of either description for a term not exceeding two months or to both such fine and imprisonment.
