29. Insertion of new section 24AA in the principal enactment

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

The following new section is inserted immediately after section 24A of the principal enactment and shall have effect as section 24AA of that enactment :-

24AA. (1) The Director-General or any officer duly authorized in writing by the

Director-General may, refer a matter to an appropriate Government department or public corporation requesting a report on the adverse implications to the environment.

(2)

Where a request is made under subsection (1), the Director-General or any officer duly authorized in writing by the

Director-General shall not take a decision on such application until it receives the report relating to the adverse implications to the environment from such department or corporation.”.
