The Long Title of the Registration of Persons Act,

No.32 of 1968 (hereinafter referred to as the “principal enactment”) is hereby repealed and the following Long Title substituted therefor:-

“AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ALL CITIZENS OF

SRI LANKA; FOR THE ISSUE OF NATIONAL IDENTTY CARDS TO THE ELIGIBLE

CITIZENS SO REGISTERED, AND FOR MATTERS CONNECTED THEREWITH OR

INCIDENTAL THERETO.”
