65. Establishment of Sri Lanka National Farmers’ Organisation Federation

(1)

The Farmers Organisation District Authorities in the Isalnd may establish a Sri Lanka National Farmers’

Organization Federation. The Sri Lanka National Farmers’

Organization Federation shall be registered by the

Commissioner-General.

(2)

The Sri Lanka National Farmers’ Organisation

Federation shall consist of three representatives each elected from every Farmers’ Organisation District Authority.

(3)

From and after the date of registration of the Sri Lanka

National Farmers Organisation Federation under subsection (1) such Federation shall be a body corporate with perpetual succession and a common seal and shall be able to sue and be sued under the name assigned to it by subsection (1).

(4)

The Sri Lanka National Farmers’ Organisation

Federation shall maintain its office in Colombo.

(5)

No act or proceeding of the Sri Lanka National

Farmers’ Organisation Federation shall be deemed to be invalid by reason only of the existence of any vacancy among its members.

(6)

The Commissioner-General shall appoint such number of persons not exceeding seven as members of the Sri Lanka

National Farmers’ Organisation Federation to represent

Goverment Departments and Public Corporations. The members so appointed shall not be entitled to vote at meetings of Sri Lanka National Farmers’ Organisation Federation.

(7)

The Commissioner-General shall appoint a co-ordinating Secretary to the Sri Lanka National Farmers

Organisation Federation.

(8)

Regulations may be made in respect of the term of office of members of the Federation, vacation of office by such members, appointment of the staff of the Federation, and procedure to be followed at meetings of the Federation.
