49. Characteristics of currency

(1)

The Central Bank shall, with the approval of the

Minister, prescribe the denominations, dimensions, designs, inscriptions, and other characteristics of currency notes and coins issued by the Central Bank.

(2)

Every currency note shall bear the signatures in facsimile of the Minister and of the Governor of the Central

Bank and shall be stated on the face thereof to be issued on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka.
