Part XVI

451. Costs

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

(1)

When a court makes a determination on an application or proceeding, it may, in such manner as may be prescribed, make an order for the payment of costs, including as to –

(a)

payment by a party of another party’s costs;

(b)

the amount of costs to be paid; and

(c)

the period of time within which payment is to be made.

(2)

A court may, in connection with any legal proceeding and in such manner as may be prescribed, make an order for security for costs.
