Part VI

81. Debtor's application for a Bankruptcy Order

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

A debtor may make an application to court in accordance with this Chapter for a Bankruptcy Order to be made in respect of such debtor.

(2)

A debtor may make an application for a Bankruptcy

Order only on the ground that the debtor is unable to pay the debts of such debtor.

Rescue, Rehabilitation and Insolvency

(3)

A debtor may not make an application for a Bankruptcy

Order where the debtor has previously made an application for a previous Bankruptcy Order within six months prior to the date of the subsequent application.
