Part VI

82. Debtor to be resident in Sri Lanka

Official English translation. Where it differs from the Sinhala or Tamil text, the Act itself says which text prevails.

A debtor will be eligible for a Bankruptcy Order only where the debtor is resident in Sri Lanka, or at any time within three years before the date of the making of the application for a Bankruptcy Order-

(a)

was resident, or had a place of residence in

Sri Lanka; or

(b)

carried on business in Sri Lanka, including through membership of a partnership or firm.
