Part VI

86. Bankruptcy Petition: Debtor Condition

(1)

A petition for a Bankruptcy Order against a debtor may only be brought when the debtor is ineligible for a Debt

Rehabilitation Order application under section 66.

(2)

A petition for a Bankruptcy Order against a debtor may only be brought where the debtor is resident in Sri Lanka, or at any time within three years before the date of the making of the application for a Bankruptcy Order, —

(a)

was resident, or had a place of residence in

Sri Lanka; or

(b)

carried on business in Sri Lanka, including through membership of a partnership or firm.
